Producer
Bodegas Valdemar is a family-owned estate with over 130 years of winemaking history in Rioja. Known for innovation as well as tradition, Valdemar was among the first to bottle single-vineyard wines and to embrace modern techniques to improve quality while respecting the region’s heritage. Today, several generations work together to craft a broad range of Riojas from youthful, fruit-driven styles to complex reservas and gran reservas.
Vineyard
Valdemar owns and manages vineyards across key sub-regions of Rioja, particularly in Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa. The Crianza is sourced from a selection of these plots, planted mainly to Tempranillo with parcels of Garnacha and other native varieties. Soils range from clay-limestone to alluvial deposits, giving a balance of fruit purity, structure and freshness. Careful canopy management, green harvesting and sustainable farming practices help maintain quality and consistency.
Winery
Grapes are destemmed and fermented in temperature-controlled tanks to preserve fresh fruit aromas. The wine is aged in a combination of American and French oak barrels for the classic Crianza period, adding notes of vanilla and spice while softening the tannins. A period of bottle ageing prior to release ensures integration, resulting in a Rioja that is both accessible and authentically traditional.
