Producer
The Antinori family released their first wine under the Santa Cristina name in 1946. Since then Santa Cristina has been a byword for quality and value in Tuscany – now more so than ever since the creation of a dedicated winery in 2006. The range now consists of reds and rosés from Tuscany and whites from Umbria, so the winery’s location in Cortona, southern Tuscany, is ideal.
Vineyard
This wine is produced from grapes from the Orvieto Classico appellation, which encompasses the area around the alluvial cliff on which the city of Orvieto is located.
Winery
Grapes were destemmed and soft-pressed before the must was immediately cooled down to 10°C for settling. The clear juice was racked into stainless steel tanks for alcoholic fermentation at 18ºC. The temperature was lowered to 0ºC towards the end of fermentation to halt the process and leave some residual sugar in the wine.
