Producer
Serra da Estrela Albariño is produced by a winery focused on Atlantic-influenced whites from the north-west of the Iberian Peninsula, where Albariño has become emblematic of high-quality, seafood-friendly wines. The producer prioritises freshness, clarity and varietal expression, drawing inspiration from traditional Galician and coastal Iberian winemaking.
Vineyard
Albariño grapes are sourced from coastal and near-coastal vineyards influenced by cool Atlantic breezes. Soils are typically granitic and sandy, offering excellent drainage and imparting a distinctly mineral character to the wines. The combination of cool nights, moderate daytime temperatures and frequent ocean mists ensures slow ripening and the retention of high natural acidity, crucial for Albariño’s vibrant style.
Winery
Harvesting is done with great care to preserve the delicate skins and aromatics of Albariño. After gentle pressing, fermentation takes place in stainless steel at low temperatures. Depending on the cuvée, a short period on fine lees may be used to enhance mouthfeel and complexity. Oak is generally avoided to keep the profile crisp, pure and intensely refreshing.
