Producer

RAR Priorat is produced by a quality-focused winery in Catalonia’s renowned Priorat region, an area reborn in the late 20th century as one of Spain’s most prestigious sources of powerful, mineral reds. The producer works with low-yielding old vines and rugged mountain vineyards, emphasising terroir expression and careful, small-lot vinification.

Vineyard

Priorat’s hallmark is its llicorella soil—a thin, poor topsoil of decomposed slate and quartz that forces vines to root deeply in search of water and nutrients. RAR’s fruit comes from steep, terraced vineyards, many planted with old Garnacha and Cariñena, sometimes complemented by Syrah or Cabernet. The harsh conditions and limited yields create grapes of exceptional concentration, naturally high extract and intense mineral character.

Winery

Grapes are harvested by hand and sorted meticulously. Fermentation often occurs in small tanks with long macerations to extract colour and structure. Ageing in French oak barrels, frequently of varying sizes and ages, adds complexity and polish to the robust fruit profile. The final wine is bold yet balanced, with the capacity to evolve gracefully over many years.
