Producer
Quails’ Gate can trace its origins back to 1908 when the Stewart family first settled in the Okanagan Valley, although the family planted vines for the first time in 1961 and the winery itself was only founded in 1989. Since then Quails’ Gate has become one of the leading producers of premium wines in British Columbia and under current CEO Tony Stewart the founding family remain committed to the project. The winery has over seventy hectares under wine, which are farmed with a focus on sustainability.
Vineyard
The grapes for this wine come from various vineyard sites from across the estate, with an average age of 20 years. All of the grapes were harvested by hand in early October.
Winery
After pressing the juice underwent a five-day cold soak prior to fermentation. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks, over approximately three weeks using both wild and cultivated yeasts. Following this the wine was then aged in French oak barrels for ten months, of which one quarter were new.
