Producer
Finca Valpiedra is a pioneer of the single-estate concept in Rioja, farming and bottling exclusively from its own property. The Reserva is the flagship red, intended to express the full complexity and ageing capacity of the vineyard. The Martínez Bujanda family applies meticulous viticulture and precise winemaking to capture the unique personality of this stony site.
Vineyard
The vineyard’s defining feature is its blanket of rounded river pebbles atop poor, limestone-rich soils. Situated at a privileged bend of the Ebro, the estate enjoys excellent exposures and moderating influences from the river. Old vines, many over several decades in age, deliver low yields of concentrated grapes. The combination of stony soils and careful farming produces wines with depth, minerality and notable longevity.
Winery
Grapes are hand-picked and sorted before fermentation in stainless steel or concrete vats. Extended maceration provides structure and colour. The Reserva is aged for an extended period in high-quality French oak barrels, followed by significant bottle ageing prior to release. The aim is a wine that combines Rioja’s classic savoury complexity with the precision and focus of a single vineyard.
