Producer
Finca Montepedroso is a single-estate project in Rueda devoted entirely to Verdejo. Owned by a quality-driven Spanish wine family, the winery was conceived specifically to showcase the varietal’s potential when grown on high, windswept plateaux and vinified with great care. The estate’s philosophy is to produce a Rueda that is both authentic and age-worthy.
Vineyard
The vineyards lie at around 750 metres above sea level on the Rueda plateau, where hot summer days are balanced by very cool nights. Soils are stony, with a mix of pebbles, sand and clay over limestone subsoils, which aid drainage and lend mineral character. Old bush vines and carefully tended younger plantings produce Verdejo with concentrated flavours and vibrant acidity.
Winery
Grapes are harvested at night to protect aromas, then quickly pressed. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel at low temperatures to highlight citrus and herbal notes. The wine rests on fine lees for additional texture, resulting in a Verdejo that is both crisp and layered, with the capacity to develop complexity in bottle.
