When the Wignall family purchased Standish Hall Farm in 2011, it was in poor condition after years of neglect. It took 5 years of hard work to regenerate the land through sustainable farming methods and restore the farm buildings. In 2016, an investment was made in an onsite purpose built pressing and bottling facility and Wignalls Yallo Cold Pressed Rapeseed Oil was born. The range has now extended to four naturally infused cold pressed Rapeseed Oils and now, you can purchase this multi-award-winning Rapeseed Oil with half the saturated fat of olive oil and 10 times more Omega 3’s.

Wignalls Yallo is a small Artisan producer with the husband and wife team of John and Claire farming, harvesting, pressing, bottling, and delivering their oils. They passionately believe in sustainability within farming and leaving as small a carbon footprint as they possibly can. The fields are not ploughed which encourages the worms to be extremely productive in the natural improvement of the soil. They recycle rainwater and have planted pollination strips for the bees that are essential for the crop. The Wingalls Yallo Rapeseed crop is grown from a single seed variety that has been specifically chosen to be compatible with the soil and conditions on the farm. The seeds are sown in August and harvested the following July. It is then dried and stored until pressing. They only press once and use no heat or chemicals in the process. Waste from the pressing is formed into a pellet for use as a feed supplement to other local farmers.
