Producer

Founded in 1979, Williams Selyem is one of the most influential and respected Pinot Noir producers in California. What began as a small garage project evolved into a benchmark winery that helped define the modern identity of the Russian River Valley. Known for immaculate vineyard sourcing, minimal-intervention winemaking and small-lot precision, Williams Selyem produces wines celebrated for purity, balance and site expression. Their unwavering focus on quality has positioned them among America’s top Pinot Noir and Chardonnay estates.

Vineyard

The Foss Vineyard, located in the heart of the Russian River Valley, benefits from the region’s cool maritime influence and morning fog, ideal for slow-ripening Pinot Noir. Soils are predominantly Goldridge sandy loam, encouraging deep root systems and naturally low yields. Fruit is harvested by hand to preserve whole berries and highlight the vineyard’s distinctive red-fruited, floral and mineral profile.

Winery

Grapes undergo meticulous sorting before a cold soak to enhance colour and aromatics. Fermentation takes place in small open-top tanks using gentle punch-downs to build fine structure without over-extraction. The wine completes malolactic fermentation in barrel and ages in a selection of French oak, with a restrained percentage of new wood to maintain finesse. The result is an elegant, terroir-driven Pinot Noir that epitomises Williams Selyem’s hallmark style.”
