Producer
Quails’ Gate can trace its origins back to 1908 when the Stewart family first settled in the Okanagan Valley, although the family planted vines for the first time in 1961 and the winery itself was only founded in 1989. Since then Quails’ Gate has become one of the leading producers of premium wines in British Columbia and under current CEO Tony Stewart the founding family remain committed to the project. The winery has over seventy hectares under wine, which are farmed with a focus on sustainability.
Vineyard
The grapes are a combination of different French Chardonnay clones including clones 95, 96, 277 and 809, all planted on different vineyard sites on the estate. All of the grapes were harvested by hand.
Winery
Seventy percent of the grapes were fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks, with the remainder in French oak barrels of differing ages.
