Producer
Château du Glana is situated between the villages of Beychevelle and Saint-Julien, opposite Château Ducru-Beaucaillou. It was built in 1870 along the Gironde estuary. Its vineyards are largely made up of plots that were previously part of Châteaux Saint-Pierre and Lagrange, and now total nearly sixty hectares. Since the 1999, the château has seen extensive renovation in both vineyard and cellar; quality has leapt as a result.
Vineyard
The vines average twenty-five years old, and are situated on well-drained Garonne gravel soil.
Winery
After one to two days’ maceration, the must was fermented in temperature-controlled vats, with three weeks on skins. After malolactic fermentation and pressing, the wine was aged in French oak barrels for twelve months, with forty-eight percent new wood.
