Producer
Château Bernadotte is a well-known Haut-Médoc property situated just over the border from Pauillac, some three kilometres inland from prestigious châteaux such as Grand-Puy-Lacoste, Batailley and Pontet-Canet. Up until 2012 it was under the ownership of Pichon Lalande and it continues to produce exceptionally well-priced wines under the new proprieters.
Vineyard
The Bernadotte vineyards occupy thirty-five well-sited hectares. The vines are planted to a density of 6,500 per hectare on a mix of gravel and sand soils with some clay. The vines are twenty-five years old on average.
Winery
Vinification takes place in large, temperature controlled, stainless steel vats. Malolactic fermentation also takes place in tank. The wine is then aged in thirty percent new, French oak barrels for twelve to eighteen months.
