Producer
Bodegas Valdemar uses the Edición Limitada label to showcase its most carefully selected fruit and most ambitious winemaking. Produced only in the best vintages and in small quantities, this cuvée reflects the family’s desire to push Rioja quality beyond the classic Crianza and Reserva tiers, emphasising concentration, elegance and longevity.
Vineyard
Grapes are sourced from older vines in top vineyards in Rioja Alavesa and Rioja Alta, where high-quality Tempranillo and complementary varieties grow on poor, well-drained clay-limestone soils. These low-yielding vines deliver intensely flavoured berries with thick skins, ideal for long ageing. Altitude and northerly exposure in some parcels contribute freshness and aromatic finesse, balancing the richness of the wine.
Winery
Small-lot fermentation allows each parcel to be vinified separately and handled according to its character. Extended maceration extracts depth and structure without sacrificing elegance. The wine is aged in top-quality French oak barrels, often new or second-fill, for an extended period, followed by significant bottle ageing prior to release. The result is a complex, layered Rioja built for both immediate enjoyment and long cellaring.
