cabProducer
One of the best classified third growths in Médoc. It was in the eighteenth century that the Kirwan family, of Irish origin, became proprietors. After M. Kirwan’s death it became the property of the City of Bordeaux, and in 1925 it was acquired by the négociant firm Schröder and Schyler.
Vineyard
The property is situated in the commune of Cantenac overlooking the Garonne. The forty hectare vineyard averages twenty-seven years old, and is situated on the best exposed hills in the commune on sandy/gravel soil. All grapes are hand-harvested with strict selection in the vineyard and at the cellar.
Winery
This second wine includes parcels of younger vines as well as lots that didn’t quite make the grade for the grand vin. Fermentation was in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. The wine was aged in French oak barrel for sixteen months, with fifteen percent new wood.
