Producer
Umani Ronchi has been a driving force in Abruzzo for decades, producing Montepulciano that balances tradition with modern finesse. Their Jorio bottling pays homage to the Italian poet Gabriele D’Annunzio and represents the estate’s dedication to producing expressive and elegant Montepulciano.
Vineyard
Grapes are sourced from hillside vineyards in Abruzzo planted on calcareous clay soils. These conditions are ideal for Montepulciano, allowing for richness without heaviness. The proximity to the Adriatic Sea and the Apennine Mountains creates a beneficial diurnal range that preserves acidity and aromatic definition.
Winery
After careful sorting, grapes undergo fermentation with extended maceration to extract colour and structure. Maturation takes place in large oak casks and barriques, striking a balance between richness and elegance. Jorio reflects the depth, purity and velvety texture characteristic of top-quality Montepulciano.
