Producer

The Antinori family released their first wine under the Santa Cristina name in 1946. Since then Santa Cristina has been a byword for quality and value in Tuscany – now more so than ever since the creation of a dedicated winery in 2006. The range now consists of reds and rosés from Tuscany and whites from Umbria, so the winery’s location in Cortona, southern Tuscany, is ideal.

Vineyard

The grapes for Santa Cristina come from selected vineyards in central Tuscany. The Merlot harvest took place first followed by Syrah & Cabernet, with the first Sangiovese grapes being picked two to three weeks later.

Winery

The different grape varieties were vinified separately. After destemming and gentle crushing, maceration in stainless steel vats lasted about one week. During this phase, the wine completed the alcoholic fermentation at up to 25ºC; it was then racked before it underwent malolactic fermentation. The wine was aged partly in oak and partly in stainless steel before blending and bottling.
