Italy’s north-eastern corner is home to its greatest concentration of fine white wines. It was in the region of Collio Goriziano that low-temperature winemaking techniques were introduced in the 1960s, and the fresh, delicately aromatic style of these often varietal wines became the new blueprint for the whole area. Marco Felluga is a leading exponent of modern Collio (as it is commonly known), offering unoaked varietal wines of intensity and purity, as well as lightly oaked and beautifully textured blends.

Vineyard

The grapes are from vineyards in the villages of San Floriano, Oslavia and Cormòns, with altitudes of eighty to 250 metres above sea level. Collio’s hilly terrain is composed of limestone and clay soil rich in minerals. The proximity to both the sea and the Alps means that the vineyards benefit from cooling afternoon breezes. Vines are Guyot trained, and all grapes were harvested by hand.

Winery

The must and the pulp underwent a cold maceration on the skins, followed by a light pressing to separate out the skins. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks, and the wine spent several months on lees before being bottled.
