Producer
At nineteen hectares, this is a substantial domaine, owned by Marc Colin, a cousin of Michel Colin-Deléger in Chassagne. Three of Marc’s children, Damien, Joseph and Caroline, now run the estate, with very fine results. They craft a style that is simultaneously classical and accessible.
Vineyard
Chassagne Les Encégnières is the small southerly tip of Puligny Les Enseignères, cut off by the boundary between the communes. The spelling changes as you cross the line, but the soil is similar: relatively rich in clay and gravel, and very well sited just below Bâtard-Montrachet. Marc Colin’s vines here are sixty years old.
Winery
After pneumatic pressing the wine was fermented and matured in French oak barrels for ten months.
